I like noodle soups.

Finally, I am starting my official food blog chronicling my culinary adventures in the OC and beyond. Hopefully my posts won't be too verbose; I've never been one for long, descriptive sentences. This is not that kind of blog. To me, a picture can say a thousand words. The photos for now will be repeats from my other unmentioned site, until I return with new photos from my latest trip.

Anyways, this first series of photos, and the namesake of this blog, is noodle soups. Noodle soups have always been a major comfort food for me....there's noodle soups from the 'motherland,' then there's noodle soups from other cultures. I love them all. Nothing soothes me or puts me in a food coma like noodle soups can. Sure it can be summer and 90 degrees outside, but that wouldn't necessarily stop me from a bowl of noodle soup.

Tainan dansze mefein (rice vermicelli) from Tainan

This is essentially the same dish as the first picture above, but you can either have it with regular noodles or rice vermicelli. This is probably one of my favorite noodle soups, but so hard to get right. The best versions are found in Tainan. But basically it's ground stewed pork, a really garlicky sauce, one shrimp, noodles, and broth. I've yet to find a decent version of this in the US.
